STORM UPDATE: The Town has extended the State of Emergency until 12AM on Monday, March 5, 2018, and our Emergency Operations Center (EOC) has been activated. We held a meeting this morning at the EOC and here are the updates:

Approximately 95% of Somers is currently without electricity. NYSEG has crews in from Canada and Maine to assist in the clearing and restoration efforts. These crews are out working; however NYSEG has not provided the towns any further details about restoration estimates.

Our Highway Department continues to clear and open roadways. There are still many trees down. The Somers Fire and Police Departments have been responding to emergency calls. They have been extremely busy. Remember, if you are dealing with a non-emergency, or are in need of a ride to the shelter because you cannot leave your home, please call 914-277-3651.

DRY ICE & BOTTLED WATER will be available for pick-up starting at 5:30PM at the Somers Police Department located behind the Van Tassel House off of Rt. 139. Please enter the parking lot via the Rt. 139 entrance.

POTABLE WATER is available at the Granite Springs Fire House through a tap. Please bring a suitable container.

The emergency shelter at the Heritage Hills Activity Center will remain open. A dozen people stayed there last night, and there have been about 100 people seeking shelter there thus far today. We have food and the Red Cross will be delivering hot meals later this evening. If needed, we will open our secondary shelter at the Somers Middle School. Again, if you need a ride to the shelter call 914-277-3651.
