At approximately 6:15 on Thursday May 18th the Somers Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to Shnorock Drive North in the Shenorock section of Somers for a reported structure fire. While units were responding a Somers VFD member arrived on scene and reported a working structure fire. While enroute Car 2441 requested a 10-75 assignment which brings additional resources to the scene. Units arrived to find a 20X30 single story residence with heavy smoke showing. Somers firefighters quickly stretched a hand line and began searching the house for any victims. Fire was found extending from the kitchen area to the rest of the living space.The fire was knocked down quickly and the house was ventilated. Units operated on scene for approximately three hours while the fire investigation was completed. 27 Somers Volunteer Fire Department members responded to this incident.
