On Tuesday 5/22 the SVFD was invited to Golden's Bridge to conduct a joint drill on firefighting for brush fires. Somers firefighters worked along side Golden's Bridge firefighters extinguishing a simulated fire in the woods. These operations can be very labor intensive and difficult due to the remote nature of them. Members practiced stretching supply and hand lines into the woods, ATV operations, cutting fire lines, and other basic brush fire skills. It was a great opportunity for us to work with our neighbors and friends at GBFD.
