New Member Applications

The membership meeting is normally held on the third Monday of every month at the Somers Fire House located at 270 Route 202 across from the Heritage shopping center at 7PM.  The application will be filled out at that meeting.  We are unable to accept electronic or mailed applications at this time. There is a $15 application fee. Call 914-248-7411 x181 to schedule your application meeting and for any additional information.

After filling out the application it will be voted on at the next department meeting normally held the first Tuesday of the month. If the application is approved by the membership it is then forwarded to the Fire District Board of Commissioners. A background check completed and then the application is voted on by the Board of Fire Commissioners at their meeting on the third Tuesday of the month. If approved by the Board of Fire commissioners you will be notified to contact the District Training Officer to attend the new member orientation. After completing the new member orientation you will take a fire district physical with the district doctors. Once all of this has  been completed you will be informed to attend the next District Meeting to be sworn in.

This process can take two or more months to complete.
