| On January 24th, just before 8pm Somers FD was dispatched to a Motor Vehicle Accident with a reported unconscious person on Route 35 near Van Rensselaer Road. Multiple units from Somers FD responded immediately. The Paramedic unit 45M2 from Westchester EMS arrived on scene first and reported that extrication would be needed. Rescue 20 and 80B3 arrived moments later and began evaluating the patient and setting up for the extrication by stabilizing the vehicle. Due to the impact of the accident on the driver's side it was determined that the whole roof and driver's door would have to be removed to access the patient. The crew from Somers FD were able to extricate the patient within 20 minutes while EMS provided care to the injured. Somers Ambulance 80B3 transported the patient to the hospital. Route 35 was closed in both directions for the duration of the incident and all units cleared the scene around 9pm. |
