The SVFD has participated in a career day program with Jesse Arnett's 6th grade health class at SMS for the last 6 years. In 2 visits each marking period, SVFD members demonstrate both firefighting and EMS techniques. Each class begins with a short lecture, followed by both hands-on and demonstrations. Students are informed of the benefits of membership and the persistent need for volunteers in the hope that they will consider joining when they turn 16.
