On a perfect Saturday, October 15th, the SVFD welcomed the community to the Lincolndale firehouse for our annual fire safety week open house. All vehicles were on display for our visitors to touch, walk through and sit in. Sparky the fire dog kept our younger guests entertained with witty repartee. Firefighters demonstrated various techniques used to free occupants trapped in a vehicle such as door pops, roof removal and a dashboard lift. Our younger guests learned the proper use of a fire extinguisher by smothering a simulated fire. All of our guests were kept well fed by our dedicated grill team who flipped burgers and dogs throughout the event.
