On Monday August 5th the members of the SVFD Junior Corp program invited their families to the firehouse for our first annual family night. On family night each of our junior corp members invited their parents and siblings to come and spend a drill night with them learning about the firehouse and what they do there. The members of the junior corp put on demonstrations including turnout gear timed trials, taking blood pressures, and splinting the guests. After the demonstrations and a quick tour of the firehouse was completed the junior corp sat down for a meal with their guests and other SVFD members. In true firehouse fashion the meal was briefly interrupted by a commercial alarm. Overall the night was a success and the families got a little glimpse of firehouse life.
