On Monday morning, February 24th, Somers FD was called to the scene of a structure fire in Golden's Bridge at their fire headquarters. Engine 180 and Tanker 16 responded minutes later. Upon arrival the fire was through the roof at the back of the building and the Somers FD units were directed there to begin an attack. Engine 180 became the "scene" engine at the rear and operated three hoselines while being fed water from Tanker 16. The fire was brought under control in a little over an hour but had devastating effects for the Golden's Bridge Fire Department. Utility 88 (Rehab Unit) was requested to the scene as a staging area for manpower. Units helped with the extensive salvage of important documents, equipment, antiques etc. Numerous fire departments from the area were on scene to assist. Somers FD units operated on scene for approximately 7 hours.
