On Monday, January 6th the Junior Corp had their weekly drill. During this drill the probationary firefighters were conducting a search and rescue operation. The 6 probationary members were placed in a scenario as if they were lost in a fire, they were not able to see and they had to use search techniques to locate the other firefighters and then exit the building. They used nonverbal communication during this drill and were able to successfully complete the task. The Junior Corp works very hard during their weekly drills to learn and implement skills taught to them by their Junior Corp Advisors and other members of the Somers Volunteer Fire Department.
