At 8:17am on Friday February 14th 2020 Somers Fire and EMS was dispatched to the intersection of Mahopac Avenue and Route 35 for a motor vehicle accident with extrication. The accident was reported to be a head on collision involving two vehicles. The first unit arrived on scene at 8:23am. Shortly after that Engine 181 arrived followed by Car 2442 and Rescue 20. Upon evaluation of the victims it was determined that the "B" post on the vehicle needed to be removed to safety and efficiently remove the driver of one of the vehicles. Upon the arrival of Rescue 20, with a crew of 5 members, our Hurst eDraulic tools were put to work removing the side of the vehicle. After 8 minutes the crew from Rescue 20 had the driver removed from the vehicle and onto the stretch for transportation by Somers EMS. Three patients were transported to local hospital by Somers EMS ambulances 80B1 and 80B3. Somers Fire units continued to operate until approximately 9am while the vehicles and debris were removed from the roadway. Run # 311 of 2020 |
