As 2021 comes to a close we are reflecting back on another busy year for the SVFD! In total during the year 2021 the SVFD responded to 2,843 calls for service with 692 being fire calls and 2,151 EMS. Also included is 104 Personal Injury Accidents where both Fire and EMS are dispatched. 2021 was a record breaking year for the SVFD topping our 2020 call total of 2,616. The past year was also a very challenging year for us all, especially here in emergency services trying to mitigate the ongoing global pandemic, and keeping us safe while keeping you safe. Somers Fire/EMS continues to be one of the busiest agencies in Westchester County. A breakdown of some of the call types as dispatched is as follows:

The busiest fire apparatus in 2021 were: Rescue 20 (Lincolndale) with 255 runs Ladder 48 (Somers) with 200 runs Engine 181 (Amawalk) with 184 runs Engine 185 (Granite Springs) with 168 runs

During 2021 the SVFD also conducted: 173 formal department drills totaling 351 man hours. 78 In-house standby's totaling 340 man hours. (The drills and stand-by's are slightly down due to COVID concerns)
