The SVFD practiced pumping and drafting skills during our weekly drill night on Wednesday at the dry hydrant located on Lake Lincolndale.

Drafting is a critical skill in a town such as Somers, which lacks charged fire hydrants in large portions of our town. Drafting entails an engine drawing water from locations such as pools, lakes and reservoirs, and either feeding a tanker to shuttle the water to a fire, or feeding other engines and ladders closer to the scene.
