Last evening the SVFD joined many members and families of our community for the annual Town of Somers Independence Day Celebration at Reis Park Somers Fire/EMS was on hand to ensure that everyone had a fun and safe time. During the festivities, apparatus were on hand in the park. This includes Car 2441, 2442, 2443, Engine 183, MA-14, Utility 89, 80B1, and 80B4. Also during the fireworks ambulances 80B5 and 80B3 were staffed to ensure coverage of the town, outside of the park. Approximately a dozen SVFD volunteers were in attendance. SVFD members gave tours of the fire and EMS apparatus, spoke with community members about recruitment, and assisted Somers PD with patrolling the exclusion zone to ensure the fireworks area was clear. Somers EMS did handle several minor injuries from the public but none that required transportation to a hospital. It was a great community event and we hope to see you all next year!
