Description: Somers FD was dispatched to a residence on Primrose Street for a reported chimney fire Upon arrival the occupants reported a strange noise from the chimney and embers coming out the top of the chimney. First arriving SVFD members quickly investigated the inside of the residence. Firefighters removed the burning material from the firebox and checked the length of the chimney from the interior for extension. Crews also went to the roof and put our Task Force Tips chimney snuffer into operation. The fire was extinguished and SVFD units operated for approximately 2 hours before returning to service.

*Please remember to have your chimney regularly cleaned to prevent fires. This time of year historically we respond to many chimney fires.
