January 2, 2023 | |
As we head into 2023, let’s look back at the past year. 2022 was another record-breaking year for the SVFD! In total Somers Fire/EMS responded to 2,933 calls for service. This was up from 2021 in which we responded to 2,843 calls and 2020 when we responded to 2,616 calls. 687 Fire calls and 2,247 EMS calls made up the 2,933 calls, it should be noted that Personal Injury Auto Accidents are counted on the EMS side but both fire and EMS units are dispatched. There were 91 PIAA’s in 2022. The Somers Fire District remains one of the busiest agencies in Westchester County, usually in the top 10 of Fire Departments. The Somers FD is unique as we are a fire department that is also a BLS transport agency, so we wear more than one hat. Members of the SVFD work very closely with Westchester EMS and contract staffing to answer over 2,000 EMS calls a year. The members of the SVFD also work hard every day continuing the tradition of 100% volunteer fire service here in Somers. This is a huge savings to taxpayers of the Somers Fire District. Some notable call types on the fire side included: Reported Structure Fires: 41 The SVFD also conducted the following non-emergency “events” of interest: Drills: 178 The following members according to preliminary run numbers were the top responders in 2022: The three Chief officers also responded to the following: Thank you to ALL of the members of the SVFD for their hard work and dedication in 2022! We look forward to 2023 and serving our community! |
