The SVFD regrets to announce the passing of Active Ex-Chief, Ex-Commissioner and life member Irwin Schriro on Sunday March 5th 2023. Ex-Chief Schriro joined the SVFD in 1987 and was an active member for 36 years. He also served as Chief of Department of the SVFD from 1999-2001 and again 2011-2014. He passed away after a short illness at the age of 63. Ex-Chief Schriro was a highly respected member of the SVFD because of his knowledge and experience but also his friendly demeanor. He was always willing to help anyone. Shortly before his passing Ex-Chief Schriro had just finished qualifying a new driver on her first piece of fire apparatus. Ex-Chief Schriro was active in the Red Knights and loved SCUBA diving, having served as the SVFD SCUBA team Lieutenant for many years. He will be deeply missed.
