At approximately 11:30 PM Somers FD was alerted to respond mutual aid at Goldens Bridge for a working structure fire. Somers was initially requested to provide a tanker due to the lack of hydrants in the area. This request was later updated for an engine to respond and set up a water source to fill the tankers after GBFD arrived on scene and confirmed a fully involved structure fire in a vacant house. Tanker 16 and Engine 180 responded moments later. Engine 180 established a water source at the intersection of Route 138 and Fairmont road while Tanker 16 went up to scene with their water. Somers FD units operated for approximately an hour and a half until the fire was brought under control. Once again this week we are happy to assist our neighbors.
