Mutual Aid Brush Fire: Yorktown- Greenwood Street

By Line Officer Jon Mackey
November 23, 2014

Shortly before 4pm on November 23rd Somers FD was requested to respond mutual aid to Yorktown FD with a tanker and manpower for a large brush fire. Somers FD members were in the firehouse and almost immediately responded with Tanker 16 and Mini-Attack 14. Somers FD units were instructed to enter the scene via BOCES and help establish a water supply for the units operating on that end. Mini-attack 14 deployed into the woods to help stretch specialty "forestry hose" and to start making fire lines to prevent the fire from spreading. Somers FD operated for approximately 2 hours before returning to our district to start cleaning hose and tools. We are always happy to be of assistance to our neighbors!
