At approximately 8:30 AM on Sunday January 4th Somers Fire Department was dispatched to Chili's Restaurant in the Somers Commons complex for an inside odor of smoke. Car 2445 arrived on scene moments later and was advised that the daytime manager had arrived and found a possibly extinguished kitchen fire. The call was then upgraded to a structure fire. Engine 183 and Tower Ladder 18 arrived, Ladder 18 sent a crew to the roof and Engine 183's crew went inside to investigate. Car 2442 Assistant Chief Leverich assumed command. Crews checked the roof and opened up the ceilings and walls in the kitchen area to check for extension of the fire to hidden void spots. The Westchester County Department of Emergency Services Cause and Origin Team was requested to respond to investigate the cause of the fire. There were no injuries and the Somers Fire Department operated for approximately two and a half hours, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
