| Thanksgiving is the #1 day for home cooking fires, according to the NFPA. As you prepare for a day filled with food, family, and fun, keep these safety reminders in mind: 🍳 Stay in the kitchen when cooking on the stovetop so you can keep an eye on your food. 🦃 Stay home and check on your turkey often—never leave it unattended. 👧🚫 Keep kids at least 3 feet away from the stove and from hot foods or liquids to prevent burns. ⏲️ Use timers to help track cooking times, especially for dishes that take longer. 🧤📄 Keep flammable items like oven mitts, towels, and decorations at least 3 feet from heat sources. 🔥🛑 If a fire starts: cover the pot with a lid to smother the flames and turn off the heat. Never use water on a grease fire. Call 9-1-1. 🔔 Test your smoke alarms before you start cooking to make sure they’re working. Stay alert, stay safe, and enjoy your holiday! 🍁❤️ |
