On the morning of January 27th 2015 shortly after 11AM. Somers FD was dispatched to the Little People's Learning Center in the Lincolndale section of town. Units were dispatched for a commercial automatic alarm. Car 2445 arrived on scene shortly after and found smoke showing from the building. The call was then upgraded to a possible structure fire summoning more units to the scene. Firefighters forced entry into the unoccupied building and began stretching a hose line. Car 2445 (Incident Commander) transmitted the 10-75 which brought additional mutual aid companies to the scene. On the 10-75 assignment was Bedford Hills Tower Ladder 57 (FAST) and it also brought an engine from Yorktown and a ladder from Katonah to relocate to Somers FD Headquarters. Car 2441 (Chief Wahlers) arrived on scene and assumed command. The 2nd alarm was transmitted bringing additional mutual aid to the scene but was shortly cancelled as Somers Firefighters operating inside the building had a good handle on the situation. The fire was found inside the oil burner in the basement. Heavy smoke and heat traveled throughout the building through the ducts/ventilation system. There were no injuries and fire department units cleared the scene approximately 2 hours later. From time of dispatch to first unit arrival was under 5 minutes.
