Mutual Aid Technical Rescue: Croton Falls at The Purdy's Train Station

At approximately 4:20pm on Friday February 13th Somers FD and EMS were requested mutual aid to our neighbors in Croton Falls at the Purdy's Train Station for a person struck by a train and trapped underneath. On the assignment was Car 2441,2443,2445,Rescue 20, and 80B1. Units responded and operated alongside Croton Falls firefighters using special airbags and the jaws of life to lift a Metro North train off of a male who was pinned underneath. The extrication took approximately 30 minutes. The victim was removed to the Somers ambulance 80B1 and transported to the landing zone for the medical helicopter. Somers units remained on scene for approximately one and a half hours assisting Croton Falls FD packing up equipment.
