One Extricated on Route 118

At approximately 7:30PM on Monday March 16th, Somers FD/EMS was dispatched to the area of Route 118 and Granite Springs road for the reported Motor Vehicle Accident with extrication. Units arrived on scene to find a two car head on accident with one person trapped inside the car. Rescue 20 arrived on scene and began the extrication while Engine 181 stretched a hose line as a precaution. While the jaws of life were being used to do a "dash roll" EMS members were in the process of stabilizing the victim. Somers Firefighters had the victim extricated after approximately 15 minutes. The patient was packaged and turned over to EMS for transport to the hospital. A total of two patients were transported by Somers Ambulance to the hospital. Somers FD stood by on scene until the vehicles were removed and operated for approximately one hour.
