On Thursday May 14th 2015, at the 42nd annual Westchester Regional EMS Council four Somers FD members were awarded an EMS Citation. The citation recognized the actions from a call on February 23rd, 2014. On that date Somers FD/EMS was dispatched to 80 Route 6 at New York Sports Club for a possible cardiac arrest. Somers Firefighters arrived before the ambulance and began life saving measures including Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). The ambulance arrived on scene and the patient was transported to the hospital with additional Somers Firefighters on board to support the paramedics during the trip. The patient made a full and complete recovery. Somers Fire Department members and our colleagues at Westchester EMS demonstrated great teamwork and ultimately saved the gentleman's life. The award states:

"In recognition of materially assisting in the successful and expeditious provision of emergency medical care that resulted in the preservation of a life, on 2/23/2014."
