The SVFD joined period re-enactors from the revolutionary war to present day soldiers at Somers Middle School's annual Heritage Day (formerly Living History Day). General George Washington (former SMS teacher Bill Wienecke) presided over the event. Students learned about life and warfare throughout American history from volunteers in period dress. Students also learned about fire department operations by speaking with SVFD volunteers and hands-on activities on our apparatus.

The SVFD looks forward to participating in Heritage Day 2016.
