On the morning of Monday June 1st just after 6AM. The Somers FD was dispatched to the 300 section of Heritage Hills for a reported structure fire. While en route dispatch advised that they received a call from the residence stating the ceiling was on fire. Car 2445 arrived on scene and spoke to the homeowner. He advised that he could see flames in his kitchen through the ceiling. Car 2445 transmitted the 10-75 for the attic fire. The 10-75 brought additional Somers FD apparatus, a FAST Team from Bedford Hills, and EMS to the scene. Ladder 48 arrived on scene first and laid a 5inch supply line from a nearby hydrant then proceeded to take the front of the fire building and ladder the roof. Engine 183 arrived immediately after and hooked into the hydrant supply line to begin stretching hand lines. Somers FD crews had the fire knocked down in short order preventing any further extension or damage to the house. Somers FD crews remained on scene for approximately two hours assisting with the fire investigators and helping the homeowners secure valuable possesions. While Somers FD was operating Katonah and Yorktown covered the Somers Fire District and responded to other alarms in our district.
