The membership meeting is held monthly at Amawalk Fire House located at 1 Liberty Way in Amawalk at 7PM.  The $15 application fee will be collected at that meeting.   Email us at svfd-recruitment@somersvfd.com for more information.

 

Completed applications are voted on at the next department meeting held the 4th Tuesday of the month. If the application is approved by the membership it is then forwarded to the Somers Fire District Board of Commissioners. A background, license and arson check is initiated by the Somers Fire District. You will then be notifed to get a physical by the district's physician, a chest xray and drug screening.  Next, you will be notified to contact the District Training Officer to attend a new member orientation.  After successful completion of the background check,  physical and training session, you will be informed to attend the next District Meeting for swearing in, which takes place on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. 

 

The process can take several months to complete.
