On Monday July 22nd the Somers Volunteer Fire Department's Junior Corp. practiced ladder company operations using Ladder 48. The dedicated members of the Junior Corp. worked on climbing the 75 foot ladder truck and working on the roof of a building, all essential firefighter skills. The members were instructed by senior members and officers about how to perform the tasks safely and efficiently.
The Somers Volunteer Fire Department Junior Corp. is comprised of high school students aged 16-18 who have aspirations of becoming full members when they turn 18 and graduate High School. They conduct their own training one night a week in preparation for becoming full members. They are a group of dedicated teens who are a great asset to our fire department.
