Location: 400’s Section of Heritage Hills
Description: At 7:22pm the SVFD was dispatched to the 400 section of Heritage Hills for a reported structure fire. Car 2441 (Chief Mackey) arrived 2 minutes later and found a 1.5 story wood frame condo with smoke showing from the front door. The 10-75 was transmitted for the working fire, bringing additional resources to the scene. Car 2441 was met by Heritage Hills Security who reported everyone was out and accounted for and that there was a fire in the kitchen. Upon investigation, a kitchen fire that was quickly extending to the cabinets and ceiling was found. Upon the arrival of Ladder 48 and Engine 185 searches were conducted and a hand line was stretched to the kitchen and the fire knocked down in short order. One occupant was evaluated by EMS, but there were no injuries. The fire was held to one residential unit. The preliminary investigation has determined the cause of the fire to be accidental. There were 22 SVFD members on the scene plus another 20 from mutual aid fire departments. All units operated for approximately two and a half hours before returning to service.
