| As temperatures drop, we are reminding homeowners to schedule an annual chimney inspection and cleaning to help prevent chimney fires. A little maintenance goes a long way!
🏠 Chimney Safety Tips:
🔍 Annual professional cleaning to remove creosote buildup
🪵 Burn dry, seasoned wood
🔄 Keep strong airflow for a cleaner burn
🚫 Install a chimney cap to keep debris & animals out
🔋 Test your smoke & CO alarms
🪵 Safe Fireplace Ash Disposal:
Improper disposal of ashes is a common cause of fires—handle them with care! 1️⃣ Let the embers cool:
Allow ashes to cool 24–48 hours, stirring gently with a metal tool to ensure no hot spots remain. 2️⃣ Use a metal container:
Scoop ashes into a metal container with a tight-fitting lid.
🚫 No plastic buckets or bags. 3️⃣ Store safely:
Place the sealed container outside on concrete or gravel, away from your home, garage, deck, or anything flammable.
Stay warm, stay safe, and protect your home this winter season! 🔥❤️🏡
