| Throughout last night and into today, members of the Somers Volunteer Fire Department have been responding to storm-related incidents alongside the Somers Highway Department, Somers PD, NYSDOT, NYSEG, and other emergency response partners. We appreciate everyone’s hard work and cooperation as cleanup efforts continue.
As you continue cleaning up around your home and traveling through town, please keep these important safety reminders in mind:
🚦 Treat non-functioning traffic signals as four-way stops.
⚡ Stay away from downed power lines and damaged trees. Always assume power lines are energized.
🔌 Never operate generators inside your home, garage, or near doors and windows.
🎆 Used fireworks can remain hot long after they’re used. Soak them thoroughly in water before disposal—never place them directly into your garbage can.
🌳 Use caution around downed trees, limbs, and debris, as hidden hazards may still exist.
Thank you for your patience as crews continue working to restore our community. Stay safe, Somers. ❤️ |
